what we stand for
At Laine we have been working extremely hard implementing changes to minimise our impact on the environment.
Laine continues to encompass environmental sustainability in all aspects of our business. Our main philosophy when it comes to environmental sustainability is to consider the 5 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair and Restore.
We strive to reduce our resource consumption by following this criteria and are constantly assessing our internal practices.
Laine takes its responsibility for the protection of the environment and the sustainability of its business very seriously and we have implemented many environmentally sustainable changes.
We also consider the smaller initiatives equally as important, from using recycled paper, cutting down the paper usage to using environmentally sustainable cleaning products and switching off individual lights while they are not required.
Laine also donates % of sales to Breast Cancer Australia as part of our social responsibility program.
In 2003 Laine commissioned RMIT-Centre of Design to conduct a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) on our complete range of fabrics. Taking into consideration environmental factors, greenhouse gas emissions, land-use, water-use, toxicity, recycled content, recyclability, durability and manufacturing standards, EMS/IS0 14001.
With this detailed assessment we have created an Environmental Rating System (ERS) to assist designers in making a more informed choice when specifying environmental fabrics.
Environmental sustainability is a continual journey for us and much of our success is attributed to the willingness of our staff to embrace this sustainable culture.
